Marmot Basin

Located in the rugged landscape of Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Marmot Basin is as unpretentious as it is pristine. Overlooking breathtaking mountain vistas, you will find the 1,675 acres, 86 runs and 3,000 vertical feet of varied terrain that make up Marmot Basin – the highest base elevation of all Canadian ski areas. Marmot’s trails are split equally between easy (30%), intermediate (30%) and advanced (40%), making this an ideal destination for skiers and boarders of all abilities. There are four distinct areas of the mountain that are laid out in a very user friendly way, so going from steep alpine bowls to bumps to cruising through glades is just a chairlift or two away. New for the 2009/10 season the NEW CANADIAN ROCKIES EXPRESS is the biggest high speed quad chair in the Rockies at 2.3 km long. It will get you from the base to the top of the upper mountain in half the time

Nakiska

Canada's Olympic mountain is a legacy of excellence. Conveniently located in beautiful Kananaskis Country just 45 minutes west of the city of Calgary, Nakiska gives skiers and riders first-rate facilities, both on-mountain and in adjacent Kananaskis village. State of the art snowmaking and grooming make Nakiska's conditions very reliable. Beginners and intermediate skiers love Nakiska for its long, groomed runs, while more advanced skiers and riders enjoy the challenges of the upper mountain.

Canmore Nordic Centre

The Nordic Centre Provincial Park offers 65km of groomed ski trails for novice, intermediate and advanced skiers. It is home to the Canadian Cross-Country and Biathlon Ski teams. The Centre's snowmaking capacity was increased in December of 2005 to cover in excess of 20 km of trail with man made snow. The Centre also has a new 6.5 km illuminated Ski Trail available for night skiing. Facilities include a full service Cafe and on site Ski Shop offering lessons, rentals, repairs and sales.

Hidden Valley Ski Area

Nestled away in the picturesque evergreen forests of the Cypress Hills Provincial Park is a great ski and snowboard facility waiting for you to explore. Hidden Valley is known for its consistent snow conditions, great facilities and friendly people. The trails are diverse, offering gentle slopes for beginners, cruising terrain for intermediates and more challenging runs for experts. To add the winter adventure, the Elkwater Lake Lodge allows you to escape and relax in one of many different suites with fireplaces, decks, and whirlpools. We are located 65 km southeast of Medicine Hat (30 km east on Hwy#1 then go south 35 km on Hwy#41 south).

Whispering Pines

Long Lake Ski Area

Long Lake is a great place to take the family and enjoy a treasure in our backyard. Our runs cover over 30 acres and we have runs for every ability. Tawatinaw Valley Alpine/Nordic Centre

Discover The Valley! Tawatinaw Valley is one of the best lowland ski areas in Alberta. Only 1 hour north of Edmonton, in the historic Landing Trail, Tawatinaw Valley spreads over 140 acres and boasts some of the most spectacular runs and views outside the Rocky Mountains. Sunshine Village

The majority of the terrain at Sunshine Village is above 7,000 feet, far above the hustle & bustle of the valley below. Wide-open cruising runs with views of 2 provinces offers an unforgettable experience. Lift lineups are never an issue at Sunshine Village as the resort features the most lifts in the Canadian Rockies. Runs are a mix of 20% beginner, 55% intermediate and 25% expert/advanced.

Castle Mountain Resort

Castle was proud to introduce the New Mount Haig, serviced by the new Huckleberry Triple Chair, to our guests last season. The new mountain has increased Castles intermediate and novice terrain by 10 times and has made Castle much more friendly to everyone in the family. Reveiws from guests have described Mount Haig as some of the best gentle cruising terrain anywhere with all natural snow. Untracked powder, short lift lines and wide open spaces to mention a few of this mountains stellar qualities. Castle is a diamond in the rough. With 2833 vertical feet and over 1600 acres you'll be in heaven all day long. Known as the 'Best Kept Secret in the West', Castle boasts the lightest, driest powder skiing anywhere.

Condition Overview: Castle has some of the best conditions around. With January being a pretty low snowfall month this season, the conditions contiue to be good at the Castle. Small snowfalls have kept the conditions fresh and the windd has been doing some magic and sifting it into the lee side of slopes to creat boot top fresh tracks in certain spots. Temperatures are right around seasonal so it is pretty comfortable out there. Our groomers have been doing a great job so there is a variety of conditions for all skiers and snowboarders.

Snow Valley

Snow Valley is a not-for-profit organization serving the Edmonton community since 1961. We offer a total of 8 runs for beginner to advanced skiers and snowboarders. Terrain Park has features for beginner to professional. We have a Cross-Country Area with training grid and 1 km loop; 100% machine-made snow and groomed frequently. 17,800 sq ft Mountain Lodge whicxh includes: Guest Services; Rental Shop; Retail Snow Rider Store; Tuning and Repair Shop; Food Services; Express Lift Ticket Window and Administration Offices. We offer Beginner to Advanced lessons with certified ski and snowboard instructors.


WinSport Canada

Largest snowboard half-pipe in the world, replica of the one to be built for 2010 Olympic Winter Games; New Beginner areas for both skiing and snowboarding; Full variety of lessons for all ages; 2 km cross-country ski track; Opening this winter, new world leading training facilities for ski jumping, freestyle moguls and aerials, and alpine slalom; Site of national and international competitions in bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, freestyle skiing and snowboarding this winter; Offers bobsleigh rides to the public on Olympic Track.


Vista Ridge

Fort McMurray's Vista Ridge ski area boasts the Best Non-Mountain Winter Recreation in Alberta with over 35 skiable acres. Located 15.0 km East of Fort McMurray off Highway 69/Airport Road, you can ski, ride and slide at Vista Ridge! Our day lodge includes a Rental/Retail/Repair Shop, full service cafeteria and bar, and our Snow School offers both private and group lessons. Vista Ridge offers a great experience if you are learning how to ski or snowboard, with our beginner's area serviced by two conveyor belt style carpet lifts. For those of you who do not ski or snowboard, our Tube Park operates weekends with over 120 tubes available. Terrain Park enthusiasts: We have over 20 jib features varying from beginner to expert, spread out among our beginner and advanced terrain parks. These parks are serviced with multiple snow features (jibs, jumps, boarder cross tracks, etc), including a 20ft long wall ride and a 10ft half pipe with hits along the side.


Valley Ski Club (Castor) Assoc.

Set in the beautiful Battle River Valley come and enjoy the fun with your whole family. All trails are patrolled by qualified Ski Patrol offering excellent terrain for skiers and snowboarders from beginner through expert. Private and group lessons are available. A 'State of the Art' snowmaking system and excellent grooming allows good, consistent snow conditions from Mid December - March. Facilities include: Day Lodge; Snack Bar with hot meals and Rental Shop. Hours of operation are Thursday to Sunday from 10:00am - 4:00pm Evenings Thursday and Fridays from 6:00pm - 10:00pm.


Sunridge Ski Area

Sunridge is Edmonton's premiere learn-to-ski area with the largest beginner terrain in the Edmonton area. We also offer snowtubing, with a dedicated lift so you don't have to walk back up the hill, for a fast ride down one of our three groomed chutes.


Spring Lake Ski Hill

Spring Hill has been run by volunteers for over 20 years. We welcome Downhill skiers and boarders and have a great Beginner Hill. For the Cross Country skier we offer over 10km of groomed trails. There are also plenty of other activities offered to the none skier such as: Ice Fishing, snowshoeing and snow mobile trails. We have a small Rental Shop, offer Ski Lessons, Chalet & Concession. Open Saturday/Sundays from 10:00am - 4:00pm.


Ski Norquay

Ski Norquay encompasses a wide variety of terrain to suit everyone. Terrain ranges from gentle beginner runs that provide areas to build confidence and skill, to heart pounding double black diamond runs that will challenge any expert. Runs are a mix of 20% beginner, 36% intermediate and 44% expert/advanced.


Pass Powderkeg Ski Area

Located in the heart of the beautiful Crowsnest Pass this ski hill has a vertical rise of 400 metres with a total inclined ski length of 1160 metres. We offer Night skiing, Terrain park, Ski School, Pro patrol, Lodge with Concession and Lounge and complete Rental Shop.


Nitehawk Recreation Area

Nitehawk is a community club, on site Wilderness RV park, a natural Luge world championship track, the 4th Ariel Water ramp and Freestyle Air site.


Misery Mountain

The sun is shining, the air is crisp, the Peace and Smokey valleys reach off into the horizon. Only at Misery Mountain can you ski, board, blade or bask in the sunshine on the deck with your feet up, hang with your friends, and be tempted by the smells of a barbecued Misery Mountain burger. We want you to have the best ski or boarding experience possible we offer lessons to all ages and abilities of 3+.


Medicine Lodge Ski Hill

Not a river valley big hill all natural snow. Offering a variety of runs ranging from: advanced, intermediate and beginner. We have a main lodge facility offering ski and snowboard rentals; lessons for individuals or groups. Our hours of operation are weekends and local school holidays. We are located 10 km west of Bentley on Hwy#12.


Little Smoky Ski Area

NEW CHALET BEING BUILT IN 2007! The Little Smoky Ski Area offers machine groomed runs with natural and manmade snow to guarantee good ski conditions. A wide variety of rental equipment is available with 200 skis, boots and snowboards. The Chalet is a great place to relax and enjoy home-cooked meals at reasonable rates. We strive to make the experience of skiing enjoyable for the beginner as well as the advanced skier. Hope to see you on the slopes of the Little Smoky soon!


Gwynne Valley Ski Hill

Family focused hill run by volunteers. Hours of operation are Evenings Tuesday and Friday 6:30pm - 9:30pm and Weekends Saturday and Sundays 11:00am - 4:30pm. Located between Wetaskiwin and Camrose on Hwy#13 South of Gwynne Valley.


Fairview Ski Hill

A community operated hill for over 35 years offering many runs from beginner to expert. We offer 20,000 feet of groomed runs on 100% natural snow. Come and enjoy special events like: Family Day Ski Races and a Winter Carnival throughout the season. We have newly added a Tobbagan Hill and Cross-Country ski trails offering beginner and expert trails and we look forward to opening our new Snow Terrain Park for this season. Operating hours are Wednesday and Friday Evenings from 5:00pm - 9:00pm Weekends from 10:00am - 4:30pm


Drumheller Valley Ski Area

A compact ski hill nestled on the edge of Drumheller offering 30 ski able acres and sweeping views of the Drumheller Valley's unique geography. We offer a Day Lodge with Cafeteria service, full Rental Shop and Ski School. A variety of runs for all ski levels and 100% snowmaking capacity on the hill.


Canyon Ski Area

CANYON SKI AREA is Alberta's largest non-mountain area! Spectacular skiing and snowboarding await you at Canyon where we have it all! We have 1104 meter vertical which gives everyone a slope to suit their preference. With our extensive lighting system illuminating your way, you will enjoy a pleasurable evening under the stars. The centrally located city of Red Deer is located only 5 minutes west of Canyon Ski Area.


Silver Summit Snow Resort

Silver Summit has been in operation for over 30 years. Started by a small group of people that recognized the need for a large ski area in Alberta that was away from the National Parks. Along came Silver Summit. With great elevation, over a thousand foot vertical drop, a north east exposure and over 10 feet of snow on average annually. Together it creates excellent conditions from early December to late April. Making Silver Summit a favorite destination for many.

Manning & District Ski Club

A popular spot in the winter months is the Manning Ski Hill located east of town. Skiing and downhill snowboarding. Racing and ski jumping. Located approximately 73 km north-west of Peace River, Alberta is the Town of Manning with a population of approximately 1350. Situated in the valley of the Notikewan River on the Mackenzie Highway at the junction of Highway 35 and Highway 691.


Kinosoo Ridge Ski Area

Kinosoo Ridge has served as North Eastern Alberta's premiere downhill ski facility for over 15 years. There are over 10 runs of varied skiing ability. Many runs are fully lit for the night and most are serviced by our improved snowmaking capabilities thus ensuring great snow conditions for the entire season. The recent development and expansion of a terrain park for skiers and snowboarders (helmets mandatory) has increased the challenge and usability of the ski area.


Edmonton Ski Club

Edmonton Ski Club is located on Connors Hill, in the heart of downtown Edmonton. The top of the hill yields a great view of the downtown core ESC Edmonton Ski Club was the first ski hill in Edmonton, and is still the closest to downtown. While not as large as other local hills, it offers a great variety of terrain for beginners and experts alike. We are located right behind the Muttart Conservatory.


Drayton Valley/Brazeau Ski Club

The Drayton Valley Ski Hill offers downhill skiing and snowboarding. With a T-Bar and 2 tow ropes, rentals and a fully stocked clubhouse, the ski hill is a buzz of activity on winter days.
